Shaykh Haji Ahmad bin Muhammad Sa'id
became the second Khalifah of the Tariqah after Shaykh Haji Abdullah
. Shaykh Haji Ahmad was a younger brother to Shaykh Haji Abdullah
.
He was born in Kampung Bukit Ampangan Seremban on 26 Rabiulawal 1328 (1912).[1]
He received his early education at Sekolah Melayu Ampangan till graduation. Just like his elder brother, he then studied under his father. He performed the Haj pilgrimage at the age of fifteen after his father's passing and then studied in Mecca for 7 years.
In Mecca, Shaykh Haji Ahmad
studied under several eminent scholars such as Shaykh Ali Al-Maliki
, Shaykh Abd Sattar Al Kutubi
, Shaykh Said Al Yamani
and Shaykh Abdul Hai Al Kattani
. He was a student who was very particular about his studies and was well loved by his teachers. As a mark of his excellence, Ijazas were given to him by his teachers. Upon returning to his place of birth in 1934, he established a madrasah named As-Saidiah in Rasah. Many scholars from this state received tutelage under him. Shaykh Ahmad
, just like his father, Shaykh Muhammad Said
, was learned in various Islamic fields such as Usulludin, syariah, tasawuf, nahu-saraf and falak and was the Khalufah of the Ahmadiah Idrisiah Tariqah.
When the Islamic Religious Council of Negeri Sembilan was established, he was elected to be the first Mufti by unanimous decision and was always sought after to grace events at Istana Negara Kuala Lumpur. He too was the one who led the Doa Merdeka (Prayer on the day of Independence).
Shaykh Haji Ahmad
wrote numerous books and religious articles, some of which are kitab Tuhfatul Autan, Safinatus Salamah, Kaifiat Sholat Tarawih, Al Kaulul Wafi, Firaidul Maksir, Kanzul Muiz, and the aurad of the Tariqah Ahmadiah
On 7 Januari 1964 ( 21 Shaaban 1383) at 2pm (Tuesday), Shaykh Haji Ahmad
passed away whilst still holding the office of Mufti. He is buried close to his father’s grave.
